The Daisy That Walked

Yahoo!! It’s a sunny day! That means the Bailey children will be allowed outside to play. It was a great relief to Momma Bailey. Having three fairy children flitting around the house all day can be troublesome. Momma Bailey was behind in her work in their home due to several rainy days. Apple Tree Notch had been getting a little more rain than normal this year but Momma understood it was needed for things to grow properly. Her fairy children hadn’t quite understood yet. Momma opened the door and off they went, out the door, Daisy, the oldest daughter, Twig, the son and the youngest daughter, Fern. They were off to their adventures. Momma had designed all their clothes to match their names. They were dressed in clothing so they would blend into their surroundings if they ever ran into a problem. Once they left the door they each ran in their own direction. Fern had to go check on her wild flower friends, Twig set out to build a cabin he had dreamed about last night, Daisy was just wandering. Daisy was curious about the big house behind their apple tree home. She had been checking on it before the rains came. Momma had warned her there was a risk here, that people didn’t understand Fairy folks. Daisy and her typical fairy child curiosity was getting closer every chance she got. Oh, what was that! She saw something quite big and it moved. This must be one of those people Momma had tried to explain. What she had seen was the house people’s daughter, Tristin. Tristin was a child much like Daisy herself. Her curiosity often got her into problem situations. She also had been inside for too many days and was ready to explore the outside for any changes due to the rain. Sometimes new flowers grow after a rain. She couldn’t wait to see. Tristin and Daisy were headed towards each other at the same moment. As soon as Daisy realized it she did as she was taught, she stood still as if she were a rooted flower. Tristin was so happy that she had found such a pretty flower. She grabbed Daisy up and headed toward the house to show her mother. Daisy immediately started dropping her fairy dust hoping someone will come looking for her and help. What Daisy didn’t see was the little orb of color that had followed her. That little orb of color is a Sprite that watches over all fairy children. He is a little spirit who loves watching over the fairy children and their antics. He was always wondering who was going to do what next. The Sprite made his way back to their home in Apple Tree Notch and lights and flits around to get Momma and Dad’s attention. They know to follow him. They gather up Twig and Fern and send them directly home. They know Daisy is the one in trouble. Soon they found the fairy dust trail with Sprite leading the way. They learned that Daisy had been taken into the family’s home. They found a door with a crack wide enough to get thru. They listened for Daisy’s little fairy voice and finally heard it. Daisy was on the end table by the sofa, she was lying still wondering what she should do when she heard her parents coming to the rescue. They helped get her down and they made it out that same crack in the door when they heard Tristin talking to her father. “Come see Daddy; come see the pretty flower I found today, I think it’s a daisy”. Tristin went to the table where she had left her pretty find but the daisy was no where to be found. She looked to her Dad for an answer. He said “Well, Honey, your flower must have just sprouted legs and walked back home”. The Bailey’s and the Sprite giggled as they made their way home knowing Daisy had narrowly escaped her adventure and the little girl would always wonder how that little daisy had sprouted legs and walked away.
